Step 1: Get your Red Hat OpenShift Cluster

For the purpose of this workshop, we have pre-provisioned free Red Hat OpenShift clusters for each attendee.

These clusters have the following characteristics:

3 Worker Nodes
Each Worker Node has 4 CPU cores with 16GB Ram
The abbreviated description:
3 x 4 x 16

Claim your Cluster

Use the following URL: https://oswebmicro.mybluemix.net and enter:

  • The lab key oslab

  • The email address for your IBM Cloud account

After you hit submit, you will be given a cluster for the duration of the workshop.

View your Cluster

Now, go to your IBM Cloud dashboard at https://cloud.ibm.com.

Whenever you want to get back to your dashboard, click "IBM Cloud" in the upper left, or go back to https://cloud.ibm.com.

In the upper right of your screen, you'll see your account name with a dropdown menu.

In this dropdown menu, you'll now see a new account of the format 1234567 - IBM. This is the new temporary account which includes your OpenShift cluster:

Click on your temporary account (which looks like 1234567 - IBM.)

Now, you will see a new dashboard with only one Cluster:

Congratulations, this is your OpenShift Cluster.

If you would like to create additional services, you'll need to switch back to your old account using the dropdown menu in the upper right. This temporary account can only hold your OpenShift cluster for this workshop.
